Apologies and update

Posted by billsimmon on 21 Oct 2012 | Tagged as: housekeeping

So I am late posting episode #195 — recorded last week. The mp3 recording was deleted off of the media drive at VCAM and we are attempting to recover the file. If successful, I’ll post tomorrow.

Also, please note there will be no PSFR live today. There is an event at VCAM keeping us from doing a live show. We’ll be back with a live PSFR next Sunday.

No new show this week

Personal summer scheduling got in the way. We’ll be back with a new PSFR in the next week or two. Stay tuned!

Snowless Snow Day

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we’re taking the week off. We’ll be back next week with a new live episode. After the jump you will find our pre-show notes, so you’ll see what we WOULD have talked about, and the SPSST quotes. Feel free to vote for your favorite in the comments.

Congratulations, Steve!

As most of you no doubt are already aware, Steve has landed a sweet new gig at MSNBC as a producer on the Rachel Maddow Show. He and Eve are staying in Vermont and he will continue to work from their home in Essex Junction. As far as we know, PSFR should be unaffected by this excellent news and we plan on being back with a new episode on Sunday (where we anticipate hearing all sorts of news about his trip down to NYC to meet his new workmates). Interestingly, Steve’s last day at Washington Monthly is tomorrow and his first day blogging for MaddowBlog is Monday, meaning that on next Sunday’s show, PSFR will be his only political outlet! He might explode, so tune in!

On an unrelated note, the recording of this past Sunday’s show is currently unavailable to me on the Radiator’s archive page, meaning I’m unable to retrieve and edit it for posting. I’m not sure why yet and I’ve sent a note to the powers that be (Jim) to find out how to fix it. So the show will be posted late this week.

Adjusted Summer Schedule & Special Announcement

Posted by billsimmon on 02 Jul 2011 | Tagged as: housekeeping

We at PSFR hope you’re all enjoying the summer weather. We’re making a slight adjustment to our summer schedule of new shows and we have an exciting announcement!

First, we’re shifting our summer every-other-week show schedule by a week, meaning we WILL NOT be doing a new live show tomorrow, July 3, but we will back next week (July 10) with a new show. Then we’ll continue every other week until Labor Day. So there will be fresh episodes of PSFR streaming LIVE on the following dates:

JULY 10, 24

AUGUST 7, 21

Then beginning September 4, we will return to a weekly schedule.

And don’t miss our show next week, July 10! It’s our special 150th episode and it will feature friend-of-the-show, blogger and professional smarty-pants, Gerry Canavan IN THE STUDIO with us for the whole show.

Now get outside, you nerds!

The Great PSFR Drought of 2011

Posted by billsimmon on 06 Mar 2011 | Tagged as: episodes, housekeeping

So last week I was sick and had a writing deadline that interfered with the show. Today I’m still sick (but honestly well enough to do the show) and the 14 bazillionth heavy winter snow of the season is beginning to fall on the Burlington, Vermont area, making driving a bit treacherous. That’s not such a big deal for Emily and me, who live only a mile or two from the Radiator, but Steve has a bit of a commute to get to the station, so we decided to play it safe and cancel the show today. And since Emily and I will be in Austin, Texas next week for SXSW, that means three weeks in a row with no new PSFR.

Many apologies, and we’ll have lots to talk about when we return on March 20 (including the return of SG:U!).

Here are a couple of quick SF-related links (thanks to Eve for some of these!):

No show today on account of Bill is lame

Posted by billsimmon on 27 Feb 2011 | Tagged as: housekeeping

*I’m a little under the weather (Nyquil kicking in in 3… 2… 1…)
*I have a writing deadline that snuck up on me and I have to spend show time writing.
*I must conserve my energy for Oscars! Ian and Rae will be joining us at our house and we’ll be tweeting, so watch along.
*We’ll be back next week with a new show, but then we’ll be off the following week as Em (and Ian and Rae) and I will be at SXSW (& Mike too!).
*Rachel Maddow called Steve “wise” on Thursday.
*Gerry has a blog post that passed 50,000 hits yesterday.

No PSFR today

Posted by billsimmon on 16 May 2010 | Tagged as: housekeeping

Per Emily’s tweet last night, which read, “*COUGH*cough*hack*wheeze*wince*sniffle*,” we are canceling today’s episode and we’ll return next week.

What’s good for the country…

Posted by billsimmon on 21 Mar 2010 | Tagged as: housekeeping

…is bad for the show. The healthcare reform debate and vote schedule today makes it impossible for Steve to do anything but watch his news feeds and write this afternoon and evening. It’s a situation where his real job is interfering with his radio show fun job. There will be no PSFR today, but this is likely good news in the bigger picture, so turn on CSPAN and watch some really boring, procedural history being made, and we’ll be back next week to talk about it.

The Big One Hundred

I’m pretty excited about this! Join Steve, Emily and me on Sunday from 4 – 6 P.M. eastern time for the live broadcast & stream of Poli-Sci-Fi Radio’s 100th episode. Special guests joining us during Sunday’s broadcast/stream include…

We’ll also be joined by our regular cast and crew, and as always, we’ll discuss the week’s big items in political and genre-related news.

It’s kind of hard to believe we’ve done 100 episodes. That’s 200 hours or political/sci-fi talk! And we don’t get paid! What are we thinking?!

Tune in live on Sunday at 4:00 P.M. eastern and join our live chat here.

For those of you who miss the live stream, the podcast of the episode will be posted on Tuesday evening.

As the kids say, ZOMG!
