Episode 60: All Along the Sucktower

billsimmon 23 Mar 2009 | : episodes

The PSFR crew spends the first 40 minutes of this Very Special Episode of Poli-Sci-Fi Radio discussing the series finale of BSG. You’ll never guess what Bill thought! You have been warned. Also, Steve educates us on all the AIG sillyness and engages in other facinating economic and fiscal policy-wonking. The new episodes of LOST, SCC and Dollhouse are discussed and in breaking news, John Boener is either insane or a liar and Michael Steele is a laughable buffoon.

Episode 59: Beware the Ides of March

billsimmon 16 Mar 2009 | : episodes

Make sure you listen to this podcast episode because The Radiator’s live stream was still down this week AND it turned out we weren’t even broadcasting locally in Burlington either due to a glitch — so if you don’t listen to the podcast, we will have spent these two hours gabbing about politics and sci-fi for no good reason!

Can President Obama walk and chew gum at the same time? Will the new NBC show “Kings” be any good? Is the Obama administration making science cool again? Will BSG ever stop being overwrought and melodramatic? Is Michael Steele a dismissible buffoon? Is Dollhouse getting better? Is Jon Stewart a national treasure? These questions are all addressed in this week’s exciting episode of Poli-Sci-Fi Radio! (hint: the answer to all of the above questions is “yes.”)

Episode 58: Who Watched (the) Watchmen?

billsimmon 09 Mar 2009 | : episodes

This week the PSFR crew discusses the relative success of the long anticipated Watchmen movie, which opened this week. The other (decidedly less fun) big story this week is the ever-declining economy. Things are looking grim. There’s also some much-needed advice for Republicans from Steve (starting around 1:04:25) that they really ought to listen to. You should also look forward to hearing about all the hot human-on-robot action that will surely follow if gay marriage is allowed to happen. And of course, the latest LOST, Sarah Connor, Dollhouse and BSG episodes are discussed. Hurm…

    15) The Arrow of Apollo, when placed in a giant barrel of water, ends up pointing in the direction of Earth, the real Earth, like a compass. Following its guidance, the Fleet ends up on Caprica, which turns out to have been Earth all along. There is a suggestion to go to a third place called “Terra,” according to an ancient stone tablet found on New Caprica. Admiral Adama says “Frak this,” and shoots himself in the head.
    4) The ship runs out of booze. Adama and Tigh, seeing rainbow-colored bugs everywhere thanks to the D.T.s, go on a shooting spree and murder everyone onboard the Galactica

Episode 57: I Find Your Lack of Pants Disturbing

billsimmon 02 Mar 2009 | : episodes

The live stream was down but the PSFR crew recorded a show anyway. Obama’s (not) State of the Union address and budget were the the top items of discussion, followed by the slate of SF TV from the last couple of weeks. Steve just finished Watchmen (just in time for Friday’s movie release). The GOP is absurd and bankrupt of ideas. Huckabee compares Obama to Stalin. Jindal talks to us like we’re four year-olds. Sigh.

The Radiator needs your help!

billsimmon 01 Mar 2009 | : housekeeping

We will be doing our new PSFR episode in the dark today. The Radiator (the low power FM radio station where we broadcast the show) is having some funding shortages that have resulted in a loss of telecom services — meaning no live stream/chat for PSFR. We are broadcasting (in Burlington, Vermont) today and recording the episode for the podcast (online tomorrow), but in the meantime, the Radiator could use your support.

Please consider donating to the Radiator or underwriting some programming so we can avoid these problems in the future. Thank you.
