This week the PSFR crew was joined by friend-of-the-show Gerry Canavan, who was in Vermont visiting his mother (you’re a good son, Gerry). Topics included the Rod Blagojevich debacle, the failed auto-industry bailout, the gossip about the difficult NASA transition process and something about still-President Bush being the “sole” survivor of a press conference in Iraq.

On the SF side of things, the crew talked Sarah Connor, new BSG webisodes, and Whedon/Dollhouse, along with the fact that the new Star Trek folks are ALREADY retconning the movie to fit with Next Gen continuity (sigh). We also discussed the apparent dichotomy in the fact that FOX has shows existing or in development from JJ Abrams, Joss Whedon AND Ron Moore (arguably the three most influential SF creators currently working in TV) and they still can’t figure out what to do with them to make them successful. Answer: change the definition of “successful” so it’s more in line with HBO’s and the SciFi Channel’s definitions.
